It is commonly advertised that new hires can sit for this exam with little to no training. If an employee is newly hired to the industry, they would have little to no understanding of the issues and concepts presented on the exam. Without training, the candidate could be tempted to study-to-the exam on flash-card types of sites that help to memorize possible questions and a potentially correct answer. This approach is useless for training a new hire or other rookies since there is no retained learning.

This NATE exam is available online or in person. Both require a proctor.

Each of the HVAC Modules builds upon another.

$ How much does the NATE Support Technician training cost?

    How Are The Courses Designed?

The course author is Scott Oakley (CMHE), with 45 years of direct trade experience in the HVAC, Commercial Refrigeration, and General Building industries. Scott has served in most contracting capacities during that time and is uniquely qualified to provide updated course design and development.

The NATE Installation training course is not intended to teach-to-the exam. Of course, the program covers the major topic areas identified by NATE as essential knowledge for new or minimally experienced employees.

There are no NATE questions identified in this training program. Instead, the training delves into the topic areas and is geared to allow the student to become conversant in the subject areas, emphasizing on-the-job skills. The industry needs field personnel-not scientists. Training in this manner provides dramatically increased upskilling compared to the flashcard sites that have become so popular.

Finally, each section of the program contains a section quiz that each student must complete. At the end of the program, a 60+ question final exam to help ensure the student has acquired the needed knowledge to pass the NATE exam.

Why should I take an online training course to get started?

Etech Instructors believe that online courses are one tool to prepare a new or recently hired employee with minimal to no experience for a new career. The complete employer training package is the on-the-job experience in conjunction with online training on the basics that we all need to know to come up to speed as fast as possible.

We all know those who were never trained on the basics that suffer from that lack of exposure their entire career.

The build-a tech programs that have gained popularity may not prepare the new employee for real-life field work since the expectations are (very) high with minimal training time. Why not let the new hire learn the academics while learning actual equipment with experienced field personnel. Trade school students commonly have told us that “I learned more in the first month in the field than I did during my whole training!”

The training industry has heard (loud and clear) from employers about reluctance to spend money on new hires in case they don’t like the trade and leave and otherwise don’t work out. Point taken, eTech offers the 2022 updated NATE RTW training program at no charge.

The eTech training programs are updated for 2022 with a modern look and appeal. This offering is a significant investment in the future of the trade, and we hope you will consider our other training programs when selecting technical training.
