Level 3 is the final course in the Residential HVAC Technician program and the one that closes the gap between trained apprentice and certified field technician. You’ll cover advanced refrigeration science and heat transfer, building codes and regulatory compliance, and a dedicated installations course built for real job site readiness — not classroom theory. Pass the final exam and earn your Certificate of Completion as a Certificated Residential Service Technician.

You’ve built the foundation in Level 1. You developed your knowledge of electrical and systems in Level 2. Level 3 is the capstone — the course that brings it all together and earns you the credential that tells an employer you are a fully trained, job-ready residential HVAC technician.

This level is designed for technicians who have completed Levels 1 and 2 and are ready to close the gap between intermediate training and certified professional status.

Each topic below is a complete course with its own chapter exam. Work through them in order as assigned in your Learning Pathway:

• Science, Heat, and the Refrigeration Cycle — A deeper look at heat transfer as the operating principle behind every air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration system you’ll ever service. This is the science that makes diagnostics make sense.
• Building Codes and Regulations — Local, state, and federal code compliance as it applies to HVAC/R installation and service. Field technicians and installers are expected to know what’s required — this course covers it.
• Installations and Accessories — A job-preparation course focused entirely on practical installation knowledge. Covers current installation trends, equipment accessories, and field procedures that translate directly to real residential service calls.
